Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber & GNFCC Host Regional Board Training Conference, featuring Bob Harris, CAE

The Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber, in collaboration with the Greater North Fulton Chamber, will host a two-day leadership orientation conference for individuals who serve on a board of directors (BODs) on February 19-20, 2019. The first day will be geared only towards those who serve on Chamber BODs; the second day will before those individuals who serve on non-profit BODs. The conference will be held at Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital at 5665 Peachtree Dunwoody Rd., Atlanta, GA 30342.

The conference will feature Bob Harris, CAE, of the Non-Profit Center as the keynote speaker.  With over 25 years of experience with associations, chambers, and non-profit organizations, Harris will provide attendees with an interactive seminar with emphasis on: the purpose of boards, duties of directors, protecting the organization from risk, effective committees, leadership pipeline, relevance to members, strategic direction and board meetings.

“In my ten plus years in the Chamber industry, I have found it extremely valuable to work with a board that is properly trained. Training not only makes for a better-trained board but also for better-trained persons who can then go out to serve the community and others well. This is one of the many reasons I am excited to be partnering with the Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber and the Greater North Fulton Chamber to produce this conference.  We are offering our region an opportunity to grow their organizations and be fully trained in a way that many have never had the opportunity to be before,” Harris said.

The Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber and Greater North Fulton Chamber share in the enthusiasm for regional collaboration, especially on such a timely and practical topic.

“We are so excited to bring a professional like Bob Harris to our communities for much-needed training. I have worked with Bob many times to train non-profit boards, and he is quite simply, the best. What makes this time so much better is our collaboration with the Dunwoody Perimeter Chamber to extend this offering to both North Fulton and Dekalb Counties,” said Kali K. Boatright, President & CEO of the Greater North Fulton Chamber.

During the two-day conference, attendees will receive the Board Excellence Manual and the laminated Guide to Board Responsibilities. Attendees are encouraged to bring mission statements, strategic plans or leadership manuals to engage in interactive dialogue.
