The Dunwoody Nature Center, Spruill Arts Center, and the City of Dunwoody have come together to promote a community based public arts program, Dunwoody Rocks!, that engages the public in creating an expressive public art display along the trails of the Nature Center. Members of the community are invited to come to the Nature Center (5343 Roberts Drive, Dunwoody) between Monday, September 11th and Saturday, October 28th to get a rock and kit to decorate. Three workshops will be available for participants to paint their rock with assistance from artist instructors: • Saturday, October 7th Dunwoody Nature Center, 10am - noon • Saturday, October 14th Brook Run Park, 9am - noon • Saturday, October 21st at Spruill Center for the Arts, 10am - noon On Saturday, October 28th from 10am - 2pm, the community is invited to a Dunwoody Rocks! unveiling at the Nature Center where everyone will place their rocks and celebrate community with a picnic lunch, chalk artist Taylor Wilkins, a DJ and a Dunwoody Nature Center 25th Anniversary celebration! The rocks will remain in place through the end of Thanksgiving week, but because all paints and materials used are non-toxic and water based, the intention is to allow them to remain in place until the elements eventually return the rock to their natural state. More information on Dunwoody Rocks! is available from the Nature Center’s website and the City of Dunwoody website at dunwoodynature.org/community-rocks/ dunwoodyga.gov
